Tobies Introduction REDCAR Tobies are produced in a variety of sizes and types to provide safe access to underground equipment and are made from Grade LM25 aluminium. They have been primarily designed for use on Service Stations, however, they can be used wherever underground fuel tanks are installed and where there may be a requirement to monitor groundwater conditions. All units are provided with seals and can be locked if required. The Monitoring Well Toby is supplied lockable as a matter of course in order to minimize the risk of vandalism and help ensure that whenever the water condition within the well needs to be sampled, 'true' samples can be taken. Refer to the drawing of the Retrofit Sealed Dip Point Toby Lid for details of the sealing device. Installation REDCAR Tobies are easily installed into concrete and need little setting up into position. Provided the sub base has been formed and prepared ready to accept concrete, the frame can usually be positioned and tied to the reinforcing steel to ensure it does not move. In the case of the Dip Point and Monitoring Well Tobies, it will be necessary to dig out any prepared area where the unit is to be fitted, or for the unit to be located on the relevant pipework at the required level. Ancillary Equipment REDCAR Dip Point and Monitoring Well Tobies can be supplied with additional equipment eg. dip caps and adapters or slotted monitoring well pipe and fittings - refer to Section 4 - General.
